"The hotel is elegant, the staff friendly and helpful. The desk people were especially nice, and a welcome change from the megahotel robots I normally see.
I'm sure that many people are offput by having to walk up 4 floors - perhaps you want to try again on that elevator. But the breakfasts were excellent, partly because the room was a bright cheery place but mainly because it was clean, well maintained and stocked by the staff, and the coffee was good.
In sum, I think the Monterey Hotel is a good deal."

The hotel has been part of the history of Monterey since 1904. In 1996 the Monterey Hotel was refurbished, restructured, and decorated to fit the style of the Victorian era. Amenities included with each room are continental breakfast, afternoon cookies and daily newspaper delivery. Our convenient location, meeting facilities, and friendly, knoweldgeable staff are just a few of the services we have for our special guests. Valet parking is available for $15.00 per day from 7am-11pm daily. Our professional staff is available to provide you information on our area, maps, directions, dinner and attraction accomodations.
